By connecting our five waterways, over 80 municipalities, nearly 40,000 acres of parks, and hundreds of miles of trails, we can create the largest interconnected park system in the country. When complete, over three million residents will be within a mile of water or greenspace.
RAPID 5 Project
The RAPID 5 Project vision, created by the ULI Columbus and the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, is a vision for one regional park system along our five major waterways. The idea was to study knitting all five Central Ohio waterways into a single cohesive greenway system—one infused with exciting new ideas, expanded access, and community voices to benefit all of Central Ohio.
The Community’s Vision
The Vision:
ULI RAPID 5 is a unique opportunity to create a shared vision for an integrated open space network. It is a vision to reframe the connectivity of the region based on the natural geography defined by our waterways; to connect all Franklin County residents to the region's natural resources, cultural, and economic resources for recreation, commuting, commerce, education, and relaxation.
